Comprehensive Management Packs


First Seizure Pack

This pack should be given to every child who presents with a first afebrile seizure. It contains a checklist of what to cover in first seizure presentations before a child is discharged home, safety information, seizure first aid, an event record for families to document any additional seizures, and a PENNSW flyer. 



Epilepsy Management Pack

This pack should be given to every child with a new diagnosis of epilepsy. It contains a checklist of what to cover in newly diagnosed epilepsy, safety information, a First Aid Seizure Management Plan (to be completed by the Doctor for childcare, preschool, school, or respite centres), an Emergency Seizure Medication Plan (to be completed by the Doctor for children who require emergency seizure medication such as Midazolam), contact details for CPR courses (especially for families of children who require emergency seizure medications), an event diary for families to keep track of seizures, and a PENNSW flyer.

    The downloadable document includes a list of organisations who can provide accredited CPR training courses.  The Children's Hospital at Westmead has also developed a free online program (CPR Training for Parents) to teach the steps involved in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for a baby (aged less than 12 months) or a child (aged over one year).
